Amazon KDP AI Guidelines: How to declare your PublishFlow book

When publishing a book on Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP), Amazon requires all authors to declare whether Artificial Intelligence (AI) was used to create the content.

This is a standard compliance procedure to ensure transparency on the platform. Declaring your AI usage accurately is required, but it does not negatively impact your book's ranking or sales. Since PublishFlow generates the core text of your manuscript, you must declare its use.

Here is exactly how to fill out the "AI-Generated Content" section in your KDP dashboard for a book created with PublishFlow.

1. The Main Question: Select "Yes"

Under the "AI-Generated Content" header, KDP asks: Did you use AI tools in creating texts, images, and/or translations in your book?

  • Select the radio button for Yes.

2. The 'Texts' Dropdown Menu

Once you select "Yes," a new menu will appear with dropdowns for Texts, Images, and Translations. For the Texts dropdown, you will see several options.

Since PublishFlow generates the main content of your book, you will generally choose between these two options based on your workflow:

  • Entire work, with extensive editing: Select this option if you actively used PublishFlow’s revision features or manuel rewriting and editing. This applies if you utilized the Proofreading step, refined the output with the Inline Editing Tool, or manually rewrote and adjusted paragraphs before publishing. This is the most common and recommended path for a high-quality book.
  • Entire work, with minimal or no editing: Select this option only if you generated the chapters in PublishFlow, clicked through the process blindly, and exported the document without doing any manual reviews, inline editing, or significant alterations.

(Note: The options "Some sections..." only apply if you wrote the vast majority of the book entirely yourself without AI, and only used PublishFlow for a few specific chapters or paragraphs).

3. Naming the Tool

Right below the Texts dropdown, KDP provides input boxes under the question: Which tool(s) did you use to create the AI-generated texts in your work?

  • Simply type PublishFlow into the first box.

4. Declaring Images and Translations

PublishFlow is a text-generation platform. Therefore, the AI declaration for PublishFlow only applies to the "Texts" category.

When filling out the dropdown menus for Images and Translations:

  • If you did not use any AI tools to create your cover, your interior formatting, or to translate the book, simply select None from both dropdown menus.
